About Us

The Miss Hawaii’s Outstanding Teen program (MHIOT), sister program to Miss Hawaii (MHO)and teen affiliate of the Miss America Organization (MAO), is the premiere competition for teen girls ages 13-18 in Hawaii. Offering cash and in-kind educational scholarships, as well as many other prizes, our program motto promotes

SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, STYLE AND SUCCESS!

The goals of MHIOT are:

Embrace the mission of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen (MAOTeen) Program which is to
encourage positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement,
creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement of our nation’s youth;

Encourage young girls to become ambassadors and role models for Hawaii’s teens; and,

Provide an avenue and introduction to the Miss Hawaii and Miss America Programs!

Among its primary initiatives, the Miss Hawaii’s Outstanding Teen Organization hosts a state competition intended to encourage and reward the talent, communication skills, community service, and academic achievement of girls between 13 and 17 years of age. The winner of this competition will go on to compete nationally at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition.  Scholarships through both the state and national competitions are awarded based on the competitions as well as academic merit and social and civic achievement.

The Miss Hawaii’s Outstanding Teen and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organizations have also established community-based initiatives and mentoring programs aimed at helping our nation’s youth build character and gain the skills necessary for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, community and business leaders, as well as participants from the national competition, we continue to implement programs aimed at helping young people develop strong values, leadership skills, social conscience, self-worth and conviction about their own potential.

Please join us – we are an all-volunteer organization that is proud to support many of Hawaii’s outstanding teens to achieve their academic and personal goals as well as to develop a sense of community and social responsibility.
